YouTube Music Awards had its first event in November 2013 with a chaotic live show directed by Spike Jonze. (see post YouTube Music Awards). This year they’ve done it differently. On March 2 they announced 50 winners with a short introduction video and then all the winner videos.
On March 23 they released a show in the form of a playlist with 13 new videos by different winner-artists with introduction and short clips in-between. You can also watch the videos separately. This way of doing an awards event fits the YouTube-concept perfectly. Perhaps not the same glamour and exposure, but the focus is where it should be – on the music videos!
